Abstract

The practicum training, in the context of initial training, is the last step of a full path of acquisitions. This is a process that has multiple colors, tones and nuances, as a result of the experiences lived, which are unique to the development of the pre-service teacher. It's an exclusive and authentic context, with real teachers and students, that make possible the experience of the profession, at the highest level. This document reflects the course of rediscovering the colors of the teaching and knowledge of a painter (pre-service teacher, the author), in a group of schools from Aveiro, near the center of Porto. This report began with the metaphor of a blank canvas, which has been colored throughout the school year, as a result of multiple learning and remarkable events. It's important to point out the act of planning, carried out in a careful and thoughtful way, following the black and white curriculum, as well as the school conditions and the needs of each student, seeking the rainbow of teaching and knowledge. Adding the process of reflection, something that went along with the course of the pre-service teacher and that proved out to be crucial for the transformation from the solid colors to the complete palette of colors. This inquiring and reflective attitude allowed the pre-service teacher to identify the problems of the teaching process and to seek strategies to solve them through the application of a unique and transforming methodology: the Assessment for Learning. Its use has boosted out the learning, in terms of performance, as well as the dynamics of the different groups and knowledge acquisition. In addition, it also raised the levels of motivation and involvement of the class, a difficulty that was identify since the first period of the year. In fact, this year of practicum training represented a significant time and space in the pre-service teacher education, resulting in a true explosion of emotions, sensations and colors, culminating in a unique and unforgettable work, materialized in this document.
