Do virtual, a experiência da simulação em Arquitetura

Abstract

The aim of this dissertation is of reflection on the multiple dimensions of the virtual and the simulation in architecture, with the recognition of, not only the importance of these multiple dimensions in the architectural image world, but also how technology may affect the work of the architect and even the production itself. A first theoretical analysis intends to outline the relations between the concepts of virtual, illusion and simulation may be situated, concepts that conduct the work, through written pieces by strategic authors, to later be applied to architecture and technology. From the visual nature of space to the idea of atmosphere, the characteristics of virtual space differ from the physical space and, from immersion to technology, new tools might grant new ways to access virtual places. From virtual to technology, this work aims to dwell on the changes in the practice, the image and the construction of architecture, as well as promoting a vision on the artistic and independent side of virtual architecture.
