| Abstract: | Rehabilitation is one of today's leading subjects regarding architecture. Preserving a building's history, while trying to answer the comfort needs demanded today, is one of the major challenges in this study area. Therefore, the following essay dwells on the process of rehabilitating a small historic building in Leiria. While facing the difficulty of adapting an existing construction to a new function and programme, it seeks to understand the practices and principles inherent in the rehabilitation of old buildings. |
| Description: | A reabilitação é um dos principais tópicos da actualidade no contexto da arquitectura. Preservar a história de um edifício, enquanto se procura responder às necessidades de conforto exigidas actualmente, é um dos maiores desafios desta área de estudo. Neste seguimento, o presente trabalho aborda o processo de reabilitação de um pequeno edifício histórico em Leiria. Perante a dificuldade em adaptar um edifício existente a uma nova função e programa, procura-se entender as práticas e princípios inerentes à área da reabilitação de edifícios antigos. |
