Casas em Alvarães: proposta de intervenção em território híbrido

Abstract

This dissertation intends to focus on the project of a housing project in place of Alvarães, located on the outskirts of Viana do Castelo. A reflection on the place, as an abstract and real concept, implied the understanding of the urban and morphological context of the surrounding, allied to the search for its cultural identity. On the other hand, it is understood that the concepts of building and inhabiting are part of a process of continuous evolution that tends to globalization, and increasingly distances itself from the specificity of the place. It is intended to confront the idea of cultural universalization, calling attention to an architecture of circumstance. The work is divided into two parts: the first part focuses on the circumstance - description of the conditions of the place, together with a reflection on the urban and cultural context of Alvarães - the second part seeks to present the project solution, which aims to respond to a specific program and the various problems raised throughout the process. The framing and justification of the architectonic options are distributed by different themes of the project, and are accompanied by examples of architectural strategies that were considered pertinent.
