O labor da escrita: uma prática também testemunhada por estudantes

Abstract

Paul Valéry's well-known quote "Ce qu'il ya de plus profond en l'homme, c'est la peau" (The deepestthing in man is the skin) serves as a pretext to observe, in writing-composition also, the dialogue that isgenerated between what emerges at the epidermis of writing and what unfolds at deeper layers of this process. Thus, there is a need to effectively manage what sustains the ideas to be transmitted, so that the quality of their verbal translation enables the message to be delivered to the target audience in the best conditions. This paper intends to draw attention to what is expected from those who practice academic writing, i.e. an analytical writing and not a copy, based on a critical and non-slavish reading of the sources. In addition, it should emerge from such writing a voice that summarises all the voices consulted, combined with prior knowledge, which is no more than the contribution the scientific community expects from every author. The writers of academic papers should embrace wholeheartedly the posture of those who not only learn, but also must contribute with something original. As this paper contains a message focused on teaching, excerpts from masters students were chosen, in order to enrich their intertextuality and to broaden their polyphony. They very clearly testify to the idea that writing is a practice that deserves to be worked on and which can profit greatly from a well-designed guidance.
