Revitalização do Hotel Panorama Um projeto estratégico para Mesão Frio

Abstract

The present work arises instigated by the analysis of the study object Hotel Panorama, in Mesão Frio, and has as premises its revitalization, in order to generate an activation of local energies. The choice of the object is mainly related with the recognizable potentialities of this element, not only because of its central location, but also by the programmatic system it can encompass. Assuming architecture as a composition act in which a balance between the practice and the theoretical study must coexist, the dissertation will present a theoretical analysis in an urban, social, cultural and economic vision, crossed with the realization of a strategic urban project, coherent and punctual, capable of generating flows and new dynamics in Mesão Frio village. The work is divided in two moments of design: the central building, as study object; and the public space in its surroundings. It's enhancing Solà-Morales' understanding, considering the acupuncture vision transposed to the architecture practice, in which the sensitive point - the hotel - is identified and intervenes, providing energy to "heal" the other points in the surroundings - the avenue -, allowing to create power currents, in other words, to create the effect and propagation of action in the territory. It's mainly though the ground floor that are created strategies to generate dynamics, relationships and experiences, and thus recreate a "compact" village, responding properly to the scale of the individual and simultaneously, to the scale of the city. The implementention of this action, it aims provoke the process of Mesão Frio village urban revitalization, solving problems, adding and "clarifying" urbanity, through a material and programmatic configuration that gives meaning to the village, diversifies it and confers it identity, creating unique spaces, as a PLACE.
