Abstract

As the final project of the Masters Program in Architecture of Faculdade de Arquitectura da Universidade do Porto, the subject of this dissertation is the design of the extension of the 100HECTARES winery, which is located on the Douro region, specifically in place of Poiares, Peso da Régua. It is through and about the experience of designing that the themes approached throughout this dissertation arise. The search for the final solution raised questions and triggered my research. Having the need to understand and study themes like the place where the winery is located, the surrounding landscape and how it is built in the Douro region, as well as the ways that other architects have worked under similar conditions. This dissertation is focused on the theoretical thought and careful consideration one must put into solving a real and practical architectural problem.
