Abstract

The professional internship represents the culmination of an academic course in the field of Sports and Physical Education. This document, called Internship Report, reports my experiences as a trainee student, during the academic year 2015/2016 in a grouping of schools in the outskirts of the municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto. Having been my pedagogical practice inserted in internship core consisting of three trainee students, a cooperating teacher and faculty supervisor, the latter responsible for directing the whole process. With regard to teaching, I took the responsibility of teaching Physical Education to a 9th grade class (resident class), as well as teaching two didactic units to two different classes (shared classes). In order to describe all stages of the Internship process, the document is divided into nine chapters, structured according to three major dimensions. In a first phase, I talk a little about myself, expose my motivations, doubts and fears intrinsic to the internship, enframing them in all areas. Later, I discuss the sequential stages inherent in pedagogical practice, from the most abstract to the most concrete, prevailing my personal stamp in all of them. Finally, it is reported the experience of an alternative didactic unit, as well as the whole relationship established with the school community throughout the school year. In the present document, there is also a research study related to the type of influence that the extracurricular activities of the expression field have on the performance of the 3rd cycle of education students. In short, this document attempts to express all feelings, evolutions, achievements and experiences throughout a year of internship as a Professor of Physical Education.
