Cidea-reabilitação da antiga comandância de obras da Corunha em novo centro criativo de arte e design

Abstract

CIDEA was conceived as a project that was promoted by the city council of A Coruña in 2014 in order to found a Design Production Centre with the aim of naming and giving the city an own character and giving it a share in activities connected with art and design and so generating knowledge. The LUIS SEOANE FOUNDATION housed CIDEA's provisional headquarters from the beginning and is now starting a project to move to the old "Comandancia de Obras" that has recently been transferred by the Ministry of Defence to the city council of A Coruña so that it will become the future CIDEA centre. As an exercise, the CIDEA dissertation "Reabilitaçao da Antiga Comandáncia de Obras da Coruña em novo Centro Criativo de Arte e Design" submits an investigation about CIDEA cultural initiative accompanied by the study of other similar examples, reflecting on the importance and interest of these cultural performances with a great positive incidence on the cities where they are made. In a parallel direction, another investigation will be made to study the historical past of the place where it is intended to locate this new centre. In addition to this, it is brought forward a personal view of what is understood that CIDEA should be as a new creative centre for the city of A Coruña accompanied by a practical interpretation of the preparation of an academical project. This challenge integrates a programme including cultural, educational and leisure activities that encourage creativity around the world of art and design in an existing space that is in a serious condition of abandonment with the aim of valuing and recuperating it for the city. Finally, the execution of this academical project intends to be a pretext to study in depth the "Architecture Project" and reflect on its complicated execution process in order to be able to establish a methodology of work.
