| Title: | A cidade, o espelho e a memória |

| Abstract: | The present dissertation contains in its pages a process of incursion and thought about Amarante, focusing particularly on the Historical Center. It is organized into four chapters - The Shadows, the City, the Mirror and the Memory - that intersect and complete. In 'The Shadows' , the search for the method, the construction of a way to see the city, as if was literature, it is constructed an atlas of constant references of the speech, that is transfigured in the course of the text. 'The City' is the approach to the case study, in a strategy of contact and permanence. It is Amarante, the city-home, starting and return point, of rooting and distance. There will also be many others, those that are written and those that are read. It is strongly linked to the Photographic Compendium, a notebook outside the text, composed by a photographic essay of the place. It is hoped that this element is transversal to the reading of the entire text, functioning as a memory aid, which associated with the text helps the construction of an image of the city and the place. The city is told. In 'The Mirror' is written the transformation of what is described in 'The City', it seeks not only to continue but also to enunciate a critical view, the raising of doubts and the search for strategies. It is in the principal analogy river and mirror image of the City and the individual. It functions as an axis, between the discourse that writes the city, and the one that will desire it. The city is seen. 'Memory' will be the condition of being a person or being a city, believing in the construction of 'things from things', of the future by the past and present, memory will be a mirror of what was and is. It presents itself as an album, a collage of fragments of the process of thought. It ends with the materialization of the intentions, in a projectual production that although is the last element presented, does not aim to understand the previous production as a unidirectional way to its concretization, once the objective of the dissertation is considered to be the act of thinking the city. The city is desired. |
| Description: | A presente dissertação encerra nas suas páginas um processo de incursão e pensamento sobre Amarante, incidindo particularmente no Centro Histórico. Organiza-se em quatro capítulos - As Sombras, a Cidade, o Espelho e a Memória - que se cruzam e completam. Em 'As sombras' procura-se o método, a construção de um modo de ver a cidade, como se de literatura se tratasse, constrói-se um atlas de referências constantes do discurso, que se transfiguram no decorrer do texto. 'A Cidade' é a aproximação ao caso de estudo, numa estratégia de contacto e permanência. É Amarante, a cidade-casa, ponto inicial e de regresso, de enraizamento e de distância. Serão também tantas outras, as que se escrevem e as que se lêem. Está fortemente vinculada ao Compêndio Fotográfico, um caderno exterior ao texto, composto por um ensaio fotográfico do lugar. Deseja-se que este elemento seja transversal à leitura de todo o texto, funcionando como um auxiliar de memória, que associado ao texto ajuda à construção de uma imagem da cidade e do lugar. Conta-se a cidade. Em 'O Espelho' escreve-se a transformação do que é descrito em 'A Cidade', procura não só, continuá-lo mas também, enunciar um olhar crítico, o levantamento de dúvidas e a procura de estratégias. É na analogia principal rio e imagem especular da Cidade e do indivíduo. Funciona como um eixo, entre o discurso que escreve a cidade, e o que a irá desejar. Vê-se a cidade. 'A memória' será a condição de ser pessoa ou ser cidade, acreditando na construção "das coisas a partir das coisas", do futuro pelo passado e presente, a memória será espelho do que se foi e é. Apresenta-se como um álbum, uma colagem de fragmentos do processo de pensamento. Termina com a materialização das intenções, numa produção projectual que ainda que seja o último elemento que se apresenta, não visa que se compreenda a produção anterior como um caminho unidireccional para a sua concretização, uma vez que se considera o objectivo da dissertação o acto de pensar a cidade. Deseja-se a cidade. |
