| Abstract: | The present dissertation aims to understand how the idea of comfort influenced domestic space conceptions within the Arts and Crafts Movement, with particular focus on the work of Mackay Hugh Baillie Scott and his impact on the work of the Austrian architect Adolf Loos. We will attempt to perceive, fundamentally, how both architects, associated to different architectural conceptions, dealt with the problem of housing, having comfort as one of the main themes of their concerns. |
| Description: | A presente dissertação tem como objectivo compreender de que modo a noção de conforto influenciou as concepções do espaço doméstico no Movimento Arts and Crafts, com foco particular no arquitecto Mackay Hugh Baillie Scott, e qual o seu impacto no trabalho do arquitecto austríaco Adolf Loos. Pretende-se compreender, fundamentalmente, como estes arquitectos, ligados a diferentes concepções da arquitectura, lidaram com o problema do habitar, tendo o conforto como um dos temas centrais das suas preocupações. |
