Escola-Museu: Reabilitação e Ampliação do edifício da estação de Caminhos de Ferro de Mirandela

Abstract

The following dissertation consists in the development of an intervention project on the architectural heritage based on Mirandela city. This project represents an intervention on the railway station building, built in the end of XIX century, which is in high level of degradation. It's also proposed an extension of the pre-existence, with the construction of a new volume, capable of creating a symbiosis between the new and the existing. The adjustment of the existing building to a new program - the School-Museum - looks for a reintegration of an architecture project in the neighborhood. This thesis aims to create a reflection as final project, in which the rehabilitation and recovery of the pre-existing building be notorious with methodologic fundaments of intervention. Thus, this project strives an analysis to the building and place in order to understand its history and present condition. Tha work carries out a study and interpretation to the several intervention theories, from its creation to the present, in order to acquire fundaments that, with the support of projectual references, lead to the final proposal.
