This paper is intended to establish a relationship between certain traits of the poetry of Yeats and the Romantic tradition of reflexive poetry, in its overall structure and matter as well as in some aspects of its characteristic symbolism. Yeats´s "A Prayer for My Daughter" and Coleridge´s "Frost at Midnight" are taken as instances of this relationship. As a result, a major focus is placed on the subject´s introspective quest for the poetic faculty and identity itself, on mortality, and on the child as a being capable of carrying on the quest success-fully.pt_PT
