Da análise ao arquétipo: proposta para um mosteiro ortodoxo em Fruska Gora

Abstract

The present dissertation intends to elaborate a monastery-archetype project in the area of the Fruška Gora Natural Reservein Serbia, in the region of Vojvodina, where the mountain with fifteen orthodox monasteries is located, which mostlywere established between the end of the 15th century and the beginning of the 16th century.In the first part we make a historical and geographical incursion into Mount Atos, where in the 10th century Athanasius,'the Athonite', organized the monastic life and with the foundation of the monastery of the Great Lavra, a reference monasteryproject, laying the foundations for what would become a monastic republic of twenty monasteries.In the second part, we analyze the fifteen monasteries in the territory of Fruška Gora, searching for their typological invariantsand particular specificities, to construct a set of premises, arguments, and themes for the elaboration of an archetypalorthodox monastery project.In the third and final part, as a result of questioning the meaning of building a monastery nowadays, we present the projectof an ideal type construction in the encounter with a specific place and topography.
