Quinta Solar de Leirós - Adaptação e transformação

Abstract

History, memory, tradition, character, composition, function. Values inherent to Quinta Solar de Leirós, construction of a popular profile, developed and modified to meet the needs that a long life dictated. With a strong connection to agricultural and livestock activities, where once more than twenty people lived and many others found a means of subsistence here, it is essential to understand and respect the historical and cultural richness of this place. In this sense, the intervention proposal follows a line of thought based on the premise of converging new ideas conceived for the homestead with the intention of preserving as much as possible all the experiences and sensations that this patrimony transmits to us. Based on an in-depth evaluation of the pre-existence, a set of actions are set in motion to restore the dignity of a building in accelerated decay. The recovery of existing values is intercalated with the introduction of new concepts, with the intention of opening the door to a next stage, characterized by the combination of the new and the old, in a symbiosis expressed in timeless relationships between the different interventions carried out throughout the history of the place.
