| Abstract: | Skin cancer is a dangerous disease, often caused by the lack of prevention. This work, made in collaboration with Liga Portuguesa Contra o Cancro, aims for the development of a serious game that can promote behavioral change, in this case, the reduction of certain risk behaviors for the prevention of this disease. Through the promotion of the behavioral change, serious games can be a contribution factor for this problem, this being the main focus of this work. Serious games are games with a strong educational component, with the goal to promote the awareness and learning of a certain set of facts or theme. To better contextualize, pervasive game elements will be used. In this kind of games, interactions with both the virtual world, in the digital component of the game, and the surrounding world are explored. |
| Description: | O cancro de pele é uma doença grave, causada principalmente pela falta de prevenção. Este trabalho, feito em colaboração com a Liga Portuguesa Contra o Cancro, tem como objetivo o desenvolvimento de um jogo sério que consiga promover a mudança comportamental, neste caso, a redução de comportamentos de risco para a prevenção desta doença. Através da promoção da mudança comportamental, os jogos sérios podem ser um fator de contribuição para este problema, sendo esta o principal foco do trabalho. Jogos sérios são jogos com uma grande componente educativa, com o objetivo de promover a consciencialização e aprendizagem de um determinado conjunto de fatos ou tema. Para melhor contextualizar, e portanto, melhor promover a mudança comportamental, serão utilizados elementos de jogos pervasivos. Neste tipo de jogos, são exploradas interações tanto com o mundo virtual, na componente digital do jogo, como com o mundo envolvente. |
