| Abstract: | With the evolution of communication technologies, new creative platforms have appeared, whereas others extended. The genre of documentary film, characterized by the expressive strength of its representation of reality, is one of the platforms that have expanded towards a digital, participative and interactive universe. Profiting of the participative nature of the Internet working together with the properties of New Media (Manovich, 2001), the Documentary now benefits of the different interaction configurations among archive objects and "spectators". It is this connection that originates the Interactive Documentary, open to new formats able to absorb and recount reality through digital artefacts while involving the viewer, now participating user. Participative archives bring with them new dynamics for documentary cinema and new organics of content navigation. Keeping in mind the relevance and objective of the usage of archives along the documentary film's history, this dissertation aims at exploring the expressive potential of new artefacts as integrating parts of the digital archives of Interactive Documentaries. |
| Description: | Com a evolução dos meios de comunicação surgem novas plataformas de produção criativa, enquanto outras se estendem para lá si próprias. O filme documental, caracterizado pela sua força expressiva da realidade, é uma destas novas plataformas que tem vindo a estender-se ao universo digital, participativo e interativo. Tirando partido da qualidade participativa intrínseca à Internet aliada às propriedades dos Novos Meios (Manovich, 2001), o Documentário beneficia atualmente das várias configurações de interação entre os objetos de arquivo e os "espectadores". Desta ligação surge o Documentário Interativo aberto a novos formatos capazes absorver e narrar a realidade através dos artefactos digitais, à medida que envolve o seu espectador, agora utilizador participante. Desta forma, estes arquivos participativos trazem novas dinâmicas para o cinema documental e orgânicas de navegação do conteúdo. Relembrando a relevância e o intuito do uso de arquivo ao longo da história do filme documental, a presente dissertação pretender explorar a expressividade destes novos artefactos, como parte integrante do arquivo digital no Documentário Interativo. |
