| Abstract: | This paper presents a brief description of the behaviour of geosynthetic-reinforced structures during some earthquakes occurred in the Nineties, namely Northridge (United States), Hyogoken-Nambu or Kobe (Japan) and Chi-Chi (Taiwan). It is also presented a comparative study between an embankment and a geogrid-reinforced embankment subjected to a seismic action for the greater seismicity area of continental Portugal. |
| Description: | Neste trabalho apresenta-se uma breve descrição do comportamento de estruturas reforçadas com geossintéticos durante a ocorrência de alguns sismos que tiveram lugar na década de 90, nomeadamente, Northridge (Estados Unidos), Hyogoken-Nambu ou Kobe (Japão) e Chi-Chi (Taiwan). Apresenta-se também um estudo comparativo entre o comportamento de um aterro não reforçado e de um aterro reforçado com geogrelhas quando submetidos a uma acção sísmica correspondente à zona de maior sismicidade de Portugal continental (Zona A). |
