COMPREENSÃO DO VALOR DO DESPORTO E DA INTERVENÇÃO DO PROFISSIONAL DE EDUCAÇÃO FÍSICA À LUZ DE NARRATIVAS DE PREFEITOS NO ESTADO DO AMAZONAS - BRASIL.

Abstract

The State of Amazonas is territorially the largest federative unit in Brazil, with an average human development index, a diverse population in cultural terms as a result of miscegenation resulting from migratory flows especially at the beginning of the 20th century, but with a predominance of people with indigenous ancestry, the which maintain habits and customs characterized by an intimate relationship with corporeality. Recognizing sport as the greatest cultural manifestation of humanity, always considering it at the service of human development in various aspects, especially those related to education, health and economy, therefore considering the value of sport relevant in the development of public policies. Based on a theoretical basis made up of studies by Émile Durkheim, Norbert Elias and Eric Dunning, this study aimed to understand how the Heads of the Executive Branch of the Municipalities of the State of Amazonas perceive sport and the intervention of the Physical Education Professional. Thus, with the study based on the constructivist/interpretive paradigm of a qualitative nature, using techniques and instruments for collecting information such as official documents and, in a complementary manner, semi-structured interviews and direct observation, with a categorical analytical procedure based on content analysis. and discourse analysis based on Laurence Bardin and Harold Lasswell, it was possible to observe that the Mayors' understanding of the value of sport and the intervention of the Physical Education Professional can be classified as identity, conceptual and attitudinal, with this understanding being the generating fact of its main actions, which are: prioritizing the implementation of formal sports infrastructure, the use of sport in social actions and the enhancement of characteristics of the Municipality's economy, the purchase and distribution of sports material, hiring of physical education teachers to work in schools, as well as few actions to encourage traditional local practices that are part of the culture but that are similar to formal sporting practices, it was also possible to identify Mayors who have the understanding of the possibility of intervention by the Physical Education Professional in the health area and especially the power of sport for the education and development of the population.
