| Title: | Tangible Tokens for Multitouch Interfaces Based On Extended Triangular Patterns |
| Issue Date: | 2022-07-21 |
| Abstract: | In this dissertation we've created a unique algorithm capable of recognizing specific triangular patterns with added touch points. This allows the use and re-use of triangles with unique characteristics, associating them to different objects. Like this, we have a unique method that extends the usage of touch points of any tangible surface, allowing the user to interact with a custom interface without breaking the unique patterns. Our Algorithm explores the spatial area of the screen, the position of the touch points and the unique angles from our patterns inserted in the Tokens. The usage of unique triangles makes that the recognition rate becomes more consistent and less vulnerable to human touches creating an undesired pattern. This project required the creation of unique tokens that were tested on different screens and showed promising results, even with added inside points to the original pattern. Our method explores the capabilities of the different market tangible multi-touch screens and their interaction with this technology. Created in a web friendly environment it can be adapted to create websites with pattern technology embedded, thus expanding the usage of it. |
