Title: AUGMENTED REALITY FOR THE SEMANTIC ENRICHMENT OF BIM MODELS: TOWARDS THE DEVELOPMENT OF INTERFACES FOR ONSITE USE

Abstract: The potential of the combination of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Augmented Reality (AR) interfaces has shown favourable outcomes on different applications among the Architecture, Engineering, Construction and Operations (AECO) sector. Also, despite the gradual adoption of BIM, there is a need for more integrative and attuned interfaces that may harness the different academic backgrounds, profiles, and tacit knowledge of the actors of the AECO sector. As several stakeholders are actively involved in the project development [1], the complexity of construction works and the sheer amount of teams and disciplines from design to operation stages substantiates the requirement for effective communication and integration strategies.
