| Abstract: | Kung Fu is one of the best known and most practiced martial arts in the world and has a significant shortage in academic research, especially in the West and Lusophone. It should be noted that there were only six Portuguese doctoral theses on martial arts in the field of sport and none studied Kung Fu. The general objective of this work was to seek to identify and understand the ethical and aesthetic value of traditional Kung Fu, highlighting the potential of this martial art as an educational medium. The research, in a Scandinavian model, had a qualitative nature and was structured in four studies (three theoretical studies and one empirical study). In methodological terms, there was a systematic review of the literature to map the state of knowledge on the subject under study and semi structured interviews were conducted with world renowned Kung Fu Masters in order to know and integrate the enlightened contribution of these experts about the theme under analysis. Thus, the interviews were explored through content analysis, having been interpreted from an organization in thematic categories. It was found that in the academic field little is proficiently and profoundly addressed about ethics and even more about aesthetics in Kung Fu. The concept of martial art was understood as a practice of pacifist education. In addition, Kung Fu stood out as a Chinese cultural symbol presenting several teachings immersed in ethical and aesthetic issues. Through interviews with great world Masters, the objective of transmitting and incorporating Confucian virtues into Kung Fu education became evident, such as: humility, respect, justice, trust, loyalty, will, resistance, perseverance, patience and courage. | Description: | O Kung Fu é uma das artes marciais mais conhecidas e praticadas do mundo e possui significativa carência em pesquisas acadêmicas, principalmente no Ocidente e na lusofonia. É de notar que se encontraram apenas seis teses doutorais portuguesas sobre artes marciais na área do desporto e nenhuma estudou o Kung Fu. O objetivo geral deste trabalho consistiu em procurar identificar e compreender o valor ético e estético do Kung Fu tradicional, evidenciando as potencialidades desta arte marcial como meio educacional. A pesquisa, em modelo escandinavo, teve natureza qualitativa e foi estruturada em quatro estudos (três estudos teóricos e um estudo empírico). Em termos metodológicos, elencou se a revisão sistemática da literatura para mapeamento do estado do conhecimento sobre a matéria em estudo e recorreu se a entrevistas semiestruturadas com Mestres de Kung Fu de renome mundial com vista a conhecer e integrar o contributo esclarecido destes peritos acerca da temática em análise. Assim, as entrevistas foram exploradas através da análise de conteúdo, tendo sido interpretadas a partir de uma organização em categorias temáticas. Constatou se que no campo acadêmico pouco se aborda de maneira profícua e profunda sobre a ética e mais ainda sobre a estética no Kung Fu. Ficou entendido o conceito de arte marcial como uma prática de educação pacifista. Além disso, o Kung Fu se destacou como símbolo cultural chinês apresentando diversos ensinamentos imersos em questões éticas e estéticas. Por meio de entrevistas de grandes Mestres mundiais, evidenciou se o objetivo de transmissão e incorporação de virtudes confucionista inseridas na educação do Kung Fu, como: humildade, respeito, justiça, confiança, lealdade, vontade, resistência, perseverança, paciência e coragem. |
