E3M - EUROPEAN INDICATORS AND RANKING METHODOLOGY FOR UNIVERSITY THIRD MISSION

Abstract

This paper has been prepared by a partnership of Universities funded by the European Commission under the Lifelong Learning scheme. The project was entitled: European Indicators and Ranking Methodology for University Third Mission. The objectives of the project were: * To improve the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of education and training systems in Europe; * To encourage and improve Higher Education Institutions' contribution to society; * To foster the creation of a European area of higher education; and * To stimulate excellence and improve the visibility of university activities focused on services to society and industry. The document captures much of the learning achieved on the project, and has to do with the kinds of beneficial impact universities can have on their host societies, and the circumstances that influence the ability of universities to deliver those impacts.
