| Abstract: | What's sounds relationship with space? Usually when we hear a sound its relationship with space is ignored. But in reality no sound it independe from the space where it travels. What we hear is not only the sound itself but also the influence of space on it. When we listen to a musical performance, its common to appreciate foremost the performer/composer's intention and their effectiveness in conveying it. Natural uncontrollable phenomena is rarely brought to aesthetic focus. This work explore the aesthetic experience from an alternative perspective, in which the artist is put in the background with the role of organiser instead of creator. The practical componente of this work envolves the development of an artistic work in side this framework, using a reverb chamber as focus. My personal experience with the sound and the process of development is documented. |
| Description: | Qual é a relação do som com o espaço? Geralmente quando ouvimos um som a sua relação com o espaço é ignorada. No entanto nenhum som é independente do espaço onde se propaga. Aquilo que ouvimos é não somente o som mas também a influencia do espaço nele. Quando assistimos a uma performance musical, é costume valorizarmos em primeiro lugar a intenção do performer/compositor e a eficácia em transmiti-la. Raramente, é trazido ao foco o fenômeno natural incontrolável ao artista. Este trabalho explora a experiência estética de um ponto de vista alternativo, em que o artista é posto em segundo plano com o papel de organizador em vez de criador. A componente prática deste trabalho envolve o desenvolvimento de uma obra artística dentro desta estrutura de pensamento, utilizando uma câmara reverberante como foco central. A minha experiência pessoal com o som e todo o processo de desenvolvimento é documentado. |
