| Abstract: | The aim of this thesis is to understand the crucial role that Le Corbusier's metric system - Modulor - still plays in the contemporary architectural scene. The main goal is to comprehend how Modulor was used and how it still inluences the architectural intent in the design process i.e. the way architects interpret the relation between space, form and its appropriation. In order to understand the role of the proportional system in architecture seen as an harmonic system of space, in the portuguese architectural scene, we purpose the analysis of four case studies: Pavilhão das Ilhas Adjacentes, Estádio D. Afonso Henriques, by Mário Bonito and Piscina da Quinta da Conceição and Museu para 2 Picasso, by Álvaro Siza Vieira. |
| Description: | A presente dissertação pretende estudar o ensaio, o Modulor, considerando a intemporalidade das questões nele levantadas e de que modo esta forma de pensar o espaço e a sua apropriação se manifesta na atualidade. No sentido de compreender o papel da medida harmónica e o seu desígnio para a arquitetura entendida como um sistema, no contexto arquitetónico português, propõe-se a análise de quatro casos de estudo: o Pavilhão das Ilhas Adjacentes e o Estádio D. Afonso Henriques, de Mário Bonito e a Piscina da Quinta da Conceição e o Museu para 2 Picasso, de Álvaro Siza Vieira. |
