Petrus Hispanus' Treasury of Poor Men is one of the most widespread medieval medical prescription books, in hundreds of manuscripts and editions from 14th to 17th Century. The book contains over a thousand recipes for curing all kinds of diseases and disorders of the body and the mind, easily tweened or abbreviated by all king of readers and tanslators. The reception and dissemination of the work is favored by his textual malleability, and the prestige of the author, as is attested to by Scribonius edition published in 1576 and reissued in 1578, in Frankfurt. After the (1) characterization of Thesaurus pauperum and (2) its diffusion, we (3) analyze 1576 edition by Scribonius as an evidence of the profound transformations Medicine experienced between the Middle Ages and Early Modern period.pt_PT
