Paisagens rurais efémeras... espaços rurais em (trans)formação

Abstract

Rural landscapes are ephemeral, because they correspond to the registration of a changing rural society. Portugal shows the marks of an interior demographic decline, reflecting large population flows over the years that are directed to the urban centers in search of city entertainment facilities. This communication discusses the transformation suffered by exemplary cases of mountain parishes located in the north and center of Portugal and try to understand the dynamics underlying the demand for this new countryside where natural riches (re)emerge with renewed interest.
