Title: Um luxo para um pais pobre? : a pena de morte no Portugal medievo
Publisher: Durango : Museo de Arte e Historia
Issue Date: 2007
Abstract: This work tries to dress the inventory of Portuguese medieval sources concerning death penalty and to understand their silences. The lack of variety in capital punishment suggests some weakness of the Portuguese penal system, as well as its desperate need of soldiers. Crime laws were mostly intimidating factors. The paper closes with an analysis of two kings who liked to execute justice with their own hands.
