| Abstract: | The number of occupational accidents in the Portuguese construction industry remains too high. The lack of training and information in health and safety matters leads to an insufficient preoccupation for risk prevention. Addressing risk prevention in the design stage, it is suggested the creation of guidance that helps the designers to fulfil their legal obligations in health and safety matters. To face the workers insufficient knowledge in risk prevention, it is proposed the creation of certification of their health and safety training. This model has the objective of ensuring that all construction workers have, at least, a basic formation in health and safety. | Description: | O número de acidentes de trabalho na construção portuguesa permanece demasiado elevado. A falta de formação e informação dos seus intervenientes em matéria de segurança e saúde traduz-se na insuficiente preocupação pela prevenção dos riscos laborais. No que se refere à prevenção de riscos laborais na fase de projecto, sugere-se a criação de orientação que auxilie os projectistas a cumprirem as suas obrigações legais em matéria de segurança e saúde. Para fazer face ao insuficiente conhecimento dos trabalhadores em prevenção de riscos laborais, propõe-se a criação de certificação da formação dos trabalhadores em segurança e saúde. Este modelo tem como objectivo garantir que todos os intervenientes na construção portuguesa possuem, no mínimo, uma formação básica em segurança e saúde.
