Abstract: | The study of the so-called "partes orationis" has Iong occupied philosophers andgrammarians. In approaching this problem in "Gramática Latina" by Father Manuel Álvares, this article intends to show how the word is studied, both in the greco-latin tradition and under the influence of rationalism coming from western grammar; the pedagogically inspired "Gramática Latina" is compared with Sanctius' Minerva, a grammar understood as a science and subordinated to the "causas". |
