Da vontade de crescer, projecto de expansão da Casa de Docim

Abstract

This work had its origin in the opportunity to expand a Farm beyond its current limits, a farm which is in Quinchães, in the city of Fafe. Casa de Docim is a centenary farmhouse with a history of its own that has been rewritten and enriched over the years. Recently, in 2012, under an European programme for rural development it was fully recovered and it has been transformed into rural tourism. The dissertation is based on the desire to make the Farm grow and, with the opportunity to apply for a new co-financed programme, promote rural development. In the context of a new funding programme, we started with the development of the project, which takes into account a set of needs and objectives, namely the urgency of hosting an entire collection of family books as well as offering programme and meaning to the area of the Farm that is underdeveloped. Along with this desire to qualify the whole area and enrich the existing programme by adding new facilities, we intend to continue to contribute to the growth of the House. Thus, an expansion project is proposed which pretends to be conscious and relevant, reflecting the ability to respond to the specific needs of the Farm, but also of a wider area contributing to the promotion of its development. The theoretical and practical reflection that has been developed and presented focuses on the project itself and on the creative process that is being born, specifying a set of issues that interfere with it and which are important to highlight.
