| Title: | Gestão da Tecnologia e Inovação no Esporte: Estudo de Caso do Voleibol Brasileiro |

| Abstract: | The use of technology is growing, but scientific studies on this subject are not often seen, which shows a theoretical gap to be explored. In addition to technology being an extremely current subject, the way sports managers act in the management of this innovation is also a subject to take care of. Nowadays, the sport is benefited by the use of software, clothing and equipment with a high technological degree, for the preservation of the sport integrity as well as for the improvement and monitoring of athletes' performance. On the other side, sport managers, holders of multiple functions within a sports organization, are also responsible to manage and insert new technologies in the sport that they are responsible for. Given the current relevance and necessity of study, this study aims to understand the relationship between the technology and Brazilian Elite Volleyball athletes performance and the role of the sports manager in this context, through a case study of Sesc, the most successful Women's Volleyball team in Brazil. In order to have a better understanding of this context and also to reach the objectives of this work, we tried to verify if there is a technological structure directed to the improvement of athletes' performance; if the team is interested on the technology applied on volleyball; if members are aware of the technologies and their benefits to improve athletes performance; whether it would be better for volleyball and its athletes to have a greater presence of technology in training and games; what is currently used for the improvement of athletes performance; if there are obstacles to the technology usage on Volleyball; the sport manager role on new technologies implementation; what management can do to mediate the relationship between technology and athlete performance; and what are the challenges faced by managers to adopt these technologies. To support these discussions, we present a brief review of studies on Sports Management, the role of Sports Manager, the evolution of technology in sports, as well as a brief trajectory of Brazilian Volleyball. The methodology is based on a case study with qualitative, exploratory, descriptive approach, through semi-structured interviews with members of SESC and the Brazilian Volleyball Confederation (CBV). The results allowed the knowledge and understanding of the current relationship between technology and performance of SESC volleyball athletes, as well as the barriers faced and future opportunities offered by the use of technology; concerning management role, it was observed a greater knowledge about the manager role on this institution regarding the implantation and use of technology. In this way, it is concluded that the technology contributes to the improvement Brazilian Volleyball Elite athletes performance, and that the sports manager role is fundamental for the promotion and implementation of technological innovations. |
| Description: | A utilização da tecnologia no âmbito esportivo vem crescendo cada vez mais, porém estudos científicos sobre esta temática não são vistos com frequência, o que mostra uma lacuna teórica a ser explorada. Além de a tecnologia ser um assunto extremamente atual, o modo como os gestores esportivos atuam perante a administração desta inovação também é um assunto a ser estudado. Hoje em dia, o esporte é beneficiado pela utilização de softwares, vestimentas e equipamentos com elevado grau tecnológico, tanto para conservação da integridade no esporte quanto para melhora de performance e acompanhamento de desempenho dos atletas. Já os gestores, detentores de múltiplas funções dentro de uma organização esportiva, acumulam a responsabilidade de administrar e inserir a entrada das novas tecnologias no esporte pelo qual são responsáveis. Haja vista a atualidade e necessidade de estudo dos temas em questão, este estudo tem como objetivo geral entender a relação entre a tecnologia e a performance de atletas do Voleibol Brasileiro de Elite e o papel do gestor esportivo neste contexto, por meio de um estudo de caso do Sesc, equipe de Voleibol de Elite Feminina mais vitoriosa no Brasil. Para entender este contexto e atingir os objetivos deste trabalho, procurou-se verificar se há uma estrutura tecnológica voltada para a melhora da performance dos atletas; se há interesse da equipe pela tecnologia aplicada ao vôlei; se há conhecimento dos integrantes sobre as tecnologias e seus benefícios para a melhora da performance dos atletas; se seria melhor para o vôlei e seus atletas uma maior presença da tecnologia nos treinamentos e jogos; o que é usado de tecnologia atualmente para a melhora da performance dos atletas; se existem fatores impedidores à entrada da tecnologia no Voleibol; qual o papel do gestor na implementação de novas tecnologias; o que a gestão pode fazer para intermediar a relação entre tecnologia e performance do atleta; e quais são os desafios enfrentados pelos gestores para adoção destas tecnologias. Para embasar essas discussões, é apresentada breve revisão de estudos sobre a Gestão Esportiva, o papel do Gestor Esportivo, a evolução da tecnologia no esporte, assim como uma breve trajetória do Voleibol Brasileiro. A metodologia é baseada em um estudo de caso com abordagem qualitativa, exploratória, descritiva, através de entrevistas semiestruturadas feitas com integrantes do Sesc e da Confederação Brasileira de Voleibol (CBV). Os resultados possibilitaram o conhecimento e entendimento da atual relação entre a tecnologia e performance das atletas de voleibol do Sesc, além das barreiras enfrentadas e oportunidades futuras proporcionadas pela utilização da tecnologia; já em relação à gestão, gerou um maior conhecimento acerca da atuação e papel do gestor desta instituição no que diz respeito à implantação e utilização da tecnologia por sua equipe. Desta forma, conclui-se que a tecnologia contribui para o aprimoramento da performance dos atletas de Elite do Voleibol Brasileiro, e que o papel do gestor esportivo é fundamental para o fomento e implantação das inovações tecnológicas. |
