Abstract: This report analyses an internship undertaken at Escola Artística e Profissional Árvore as part of the Master's degree in Teaching Visual Arts, focusing on the research, design, implementation and analysis of a didactic unit on self-representation and animation. Building on the tension between the technical demands of vocational arts education and the need to preserve spaces for subjective construction, the proposal "Self-representations in Motion: From the Present to the Imagined" utilised an optical device, the phenakistoscope, alongside drawing processes, animation techniques and written reflection to explore the relationship between identity, image and decision-making, with the aim of fostering reflection on self-image, encourage student autonomy and value the creative process as a pedagogical dimension.
Data collection relied on questionnaires administered before and after the didactic unit, student's written reflections and on field notes produced in the context of participant observation. The results reveal varying degrees of engagement, suggesting that the project encouraged students to reformulate ideas, manage technical constraints and problematise the construction of the self as a process, albeit with differing levels of engagement. Simultaneously, the internship deepened the understanding of teaching as a relational, situated and constantly evolving practice.

Abstract: This research begins with the question of how to think (with) the body in a contemporary society in which certain conceptions of corporeality have become naturalised, sustained by colonial structures that persist in the present. The text develops a critical reflection on the ways of understanding and inhabiting the body, in its embodied, affective and relational dimensions, interrogating the possibilities of constructing, within the classroom, alternative ways of seeing, knowing, thinking and making that challenge hegemonic discourses and practices in the pedagogical and artistic fields. The acknowledgement of the position of privilege from which this text is produced is understood as an integral part of a complex and indeterminate exercise, itself inscribed within the very structures of power it seeks to question. The tensions and contradictions that emerge throughout the conception and implementation of the pedagogical proposals are understood as constitutive of a continuous and necessarily unfinished process of (un)learning and (de)construction of whiteness, oriented towards antidiscriminatory and antiracist practices, committed to diversity and attentive to heterogeneity.
